Sølvgarden is a certified Environmental Lighthouse
In 2015, we were proud to say that we were the first hotel in Setesdal to be certified Environmental Lighthouse. We must be recertified every three years, something that helps us to work concretely with sustainability within areas such as the working environment, waste management, energy use, purchasing and transport.
Every day we work to take care of the environment around us and encourage everyone to take part in this work.

ENERGY - GOOD FOOD - WORK ENVIRONMENT
The energy demand in the world is constantly increasing. Therefore, it is important to reduce consumption where possible and focus on renewable energy sources. Continuous development of our biofuel plant is important. We have a charging station for Tesla and other electric cars.
Good food does not do itself, it requires good ingredients and love of the subject. We place great emphasis on food rooted in Norwegian and local food traditions and short-distance food. These are, for example, mountain otters from local mountain lakes, moose from our own forest or lambs that we salt, turkey and smoke in the smoke train.
At Sølvgarden we have a social and encouraging environment. If the staff is happy, the guests will also be happy. Through Miljøfyrtårn we get concrete advice and help to constantly improve routines for HSE and the working environment, which can help reduce sick leave.
